Modular Procedural Generation for Voxel Maps

Task environments developed in Minecraft are becoming increasingly popular for artificial intelligence (AI) research. However, most of these currently constructed manually, thus failing to take advantage procedural content generation (PCG), a capability unique virtual task environments. In this paper, we present mcg, an open-source library facilitate implementing PCG algorithms voxel-based such as Minecraft. The is designed with human-machine teaming research mind, and takes 'top-down' approach generation, simultaneously generating low high level machine-readable representations that suitable empirical These can be consumed by downstream AI applications consider human spatial cognition. benefits include rapid, scalable, efficient development environments, the ability control statistics environment at semantic level, generate novel response player actions real time.
